Presented is a fine quality heavy sterling silver centerpiece bowl from circa 1900. The bowl is done in a quatrefoil style, raised on legs made of vines and grapes, and with an applied edge to the rim of grapes, grape vines, and leaves.
The bowl has a lovely mirror finish. There is a monogram in the center of the inside of the bowl done in ornate script, looks like'LDJ' but we aren't sure. This is a very large and heavy piece of silver, of American manufacture. The underside of the bowl is stamped with J.
Caldwell & Co only retailed this piece, we believe it to have been made by Whiting Mfg. Co, but we can't be sure. The bowl is in excellent condition. There is one ding around the edge, however it is very hard to notice. There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals and no repairs. The bowl measures 12 1/2 by 14 inches and is 5 3/4 inches tall. The bowl weighs 2lbs 1.4 ounces, or 945 grams. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution.
