Large Georgian Centerpiece Bowl Sterling Silver London 1805. English sterling silver large centerpiece fruit bowl having a Gadroon rim and handles by Robert Hennell I & Samuel Hennell bearing a full set of London Hallmarks for 1805. This especially attractive and useful George III bowl bears a crest used by Robert Arkwright, Esq. Of Sutton Scarsdale and Willersley, Derby. The crest is described as an eagle, rising in beak an escutcheon, pendant by ribbon, charged with a hank of cotton.

The motto is :Multa tuli fecique or I have borne and done many things. This handsome bowl is 16 1/2" across the handles, 4 5/8" tall and weighs 1040.6 grams or 33.5 ozs Troy. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
