Victorian sterling silver epergne candelabrum. Made by Barnard & Sons in London in 1849. Shaped shaft with flange and stepped triangular base terminating in 3 scrolled supports.
Raised and large central glass basket in support surrounded on 3 leaf-capped and entwined scroll branches, each terminating in bellied leaf-capped socket. Sockets support small glass baskets. Dense pierced and scrolled leaf ornament. Midcentury ornateness that shimmers by candlelight. Foot has 3 strapwork cartouches of which 2 engraved with armorials.
Overall dimensions (with baskets): H 26 x W 18 1/8 x D 17 1/4 in. Heavy weight (silver only): 127 troy ounces.
